About this event

Convened and hosted by Dr Audrey Borowski (EFI Visiting Fellow April - June 2025), ‘Al and the Digital’ is a seminar series that sets out to explore the theoretical ramifications and implications of algorithmic systems and digital tools, and how they shape our present and future worlds. Together with international experts, participants are invited to discuss the entanglement of thought and technology.

All events are Free via Zoom, and will take place from 2-3pm ET / 7-8pm BST:

  • Monday 14 April: Why Technologies of Connection Tear Us Apart with Nicholas Carr

  • Monday 28 April: On Algorithms and Propaganda with Renee DiResta

  • Monday 19 May: The History of Philosophy and the Future of Al with Cameron Buckner

  • Tuesday 17 June: Al and Human Creativity with Pireeni Sundaralingam and Nicholas Halmi

  • Monday 30 June: How to Reclaim Our Humanity in an Age of Machine Thinking with Shannon Vallor

This series is hosted and streamed by The Philosopher, and sponsored by Cambridge Digital Humanities and the Minderoo Centre for Technology and Democracy at the University of Cambridge, Gloknos, and the Centre for Technomoral Futures at the University of Edinburgh. It will be streamed lived and recorded.
