Futures of Bioethics Conference 2023
Abstract submissions are now open for the Postgraduate Bioethics Conference 2023, to be held in Edinburgh on Monday 12th - Tuesday 13th June. The conference is co-organised by one of our PhD students, Jamie Webb.
The theme of the conference is Futures of Bioethics. Submissions on a wide variety of topics are welcomed: including the future of bioethics and anti-racism, methodological innovations in bioethics, the ethics of emerging technologies, or anything connecting to the theme of Futures of Bioethics.
Submissions are open to postgraduate student researchers working in any discipline whose research relates to bioethics. We are committed to making this PGBC as accessible as possible. To that end, conference registration and accommodation for presenters will be free of charge, and travel bursaries will be available to support expenses travelling to and from Edinburgh. A care fund is also available to support the attendance of participants with particular accessibility needs.
The session format accommodates two options for presentation submissions: 15 minute oral presentations (+ time for Q&A) and poster presentations, which will be accompanied by an optional 4 minute lightning presentation before the poster display session. Please indicate your preference of presentation type during the submission stage. Every effort will be taken to accommodate presenters’ preferred presentation approach, but depending on the number of submissions received, offers may be made in a different format from your stated preference.
Submissions can be made through the IME Portal.
Submissions close on at 23.59 on 31st January 2023. Notification of submission outcomes will be sent out in Spring 2023. Invited presenters will have several weeks following notification of submission outcomes to guarantee attendance and accommodation before registration is opened to other potential attendees.
If you have any questions, please email the organisers, Jamie Webb (jamie.webb@ed.ac.uk) or Emma Nance (emma.nance@ed.ac.uk) who will be happy to assist with your inquiry.
