Dr Atoosa Kasirzadeh was Chancellor’s Fellow and Research Lead at the CTMF from January 2022 until June 2024, and was also appointed to the University of Edinburgh’s Department of Philosophy.

While at the CTMF, Dr Kasirzadeh’s research addressed ethical and epistemological questions that arise due to the growing use of mathematical and computational technologies in various aspects of natural and social life. Her research explored three sets of interrelated questions: How do we apply mathematical and computational tools to understand the world and ourselves? Conversely, how do computational technologies impact our thinking and lives? And how can we influence the formation of technological ecosystems for a better and more just world?
